Recent work...vehicle graphics...

Vinyl graphics on a VW Transporter. This is the third vehicle I have done for this client, the previous two were both Ford Transit's.

On the right of the photo, you can see a fuel tank for TM Newburn Ltd; I put one vinyl logo on each of the four sides - each logo is 2 metres long.

Recent work...3D letters...

This work is for one of the largest manufacturers of fireplaces in the UK.

The logo spans four metres and is produced from 5mm white foam PVC faced with gray vinyl, closely matched to the company's Pantone reference, mounted to the fascia using simple stud fixings.

Recent work...window graphics...

This is a recent job for my tattooist, Roy Priestley, of Skin Shokz in Wyke, Bradford.

The window graphics are my handy work - design, production and application. The sign has nothing to do with me!

Roy wanted the "Tattoo" wording to be "old school" - the lettering is three coloured; black outline, red letter and yellow backing. The text on the two larger windows is red/yellow and white, yellow backed up in black.

Ho hum.....

Unable to make college on Thursday as we have got tickets to see Billy Bragg at The Leeds Academy.

It's in Leeds.....

"Waltz With Bashir"...

I really fancy seeing "Waltz With Bashir" - an animated film about the 1982 Lebanon War.

It looks to have some tremendous animation, set to a haunting soundtrack, and has been widely hailed as a superb work. As you can see from the attached images, the artwork is stunning - I particularly like the use of vibrant colours in some scenes set against others that ere less colourful, and sometimes monochrome.

I am quite partial to graphic novels - comics, as my wife calls them - and am looking forward to seeing the film.

I am looking forward to seeing the film in early December - it is out here on November 21st but only seems to have a limited release in selected cinemas; our nearest one is The National Media Museum in Bradford.

We have booked tickets for 5th December.

The synopsis is as follows:

"One night at a bar, an old friend tells director Ari Folman about a recurring nightmare in which he is chased by 26 vicious dogs. Every night, the same number of beasts. The two men conclude that there’s a connection to their Israeli Army mission in the first Lebanon War of the early eighties. Ari is surprised that he can’t remember a thing anymore about that period of his life.

Intrigued by this riddle, he decides to meet and interview old friends and comrades around the world. He needs to discover the truth about that time and about himself. As Ari delves deeper and deeper into the mystery, his memory begins to creep up in surreal images …"

The Art Of The Poster....

I quite fancy this exhibition, although it is in London and I would find it difficult to attend.

"THE ART OF THE POSTER - A Century of Design"

It is "a major retrospective exhibition celebrating poster design for the Capital's public transport network."

Dexter...

I quite like these fake magazine covers, recently designed to advertise the TV show "Dexter".

I like the way that they pay homage to some classic magazine covers - Rolling Stone and the New Yorker for example.
